Breast Augmentation with a Lift

It is often said that a plastic surgeon needs to be an architect, artist, and engineer. This is especially true when performing a combination procedure such as a breast lift with implants.

The ability to plan and perform this procedure for the best results requires the skill of a top surgeon like Dr. Bennett C. Yang. With the experience of thousands of breast surgeries and the use of advanced techniques, Dr. Yang can create a better breast shape with less scarring.

Common Breast Concerns:

  • When you feel your breasts are not proportional to your body.
  • Not liking the look of your breasts because of lost shape and/or fullness due to pregnancy, weight loss, or aging.
  • Unhappy with the inconsistent size/shape resulting from abnormal natural development, trauma, or injury.
  • Uncomfortable with the fit or look of your bust line in clothing/bathing suits, or bras.

A breast lift with implants is a double procedure combining a breast lift with a breast augmentation in a single operation. Breast lifts are used to reposition your breasts higher on the chest, while implants are used to add or restore upper-pole fullness at the top of your breast.

Breast Lift Augmentation, Is This Right For Me?

A Breast Lift with Implants, also known as augmentation mastopexy or a breast lift with augmentation, is a surgical procedure that can both reshape, lift, and increase the fullness of your breasts.

This procedure will lift your breasts to a more youthful and perky position while also increasing size and improving their shape by adding breast implants. It’s an ideal solution for women who experience breast sagging due to aging, rapid weight loss, pregnancy, or breastfeeding, and want to restore and correct their breast volume.

The Benefits of Breast Augmentation With A Lift

Breast augmentation with a lift offers several benefits, primarily enhancing the appearance and shape of your breasts.

What Can a Breast Lift with Implants Do For Me?

  • Enhance your breast volume
  • Corrected breast sagging
  • Improved your breast symmetry
  • Restore or nipple position, inverted nipples
  • Boosted your self-esteem and confidence
  • Provide Natural-looking results

Placement of Breast Implant

Breasts that sag considerably often require a combination of breast augmentation and a breast lift (mastoplexy). These procedures can usually be accomplished simultaneously. A breast lift raises and firms the breasts through a combination of tissue reshaping and tightening, along with the removal of excess skin. The breast implant adds fullness and enhances your breast shape.

Board-certified and experienced plastic surgeon, Dr. Bennett C. Yang, has performed a high volume of breast surgeries, and will be able to decide if he recommends an implant with your breast lift surgery.

How is Breast Augmentation Combined with a Breast Lift Performed?
What Are The Risks?

A breast implant is placed behind the pectoralis muscle. The incision is placed in the breast fold. Once the breast implants are placed, the breast lift is performed. Dissolving sutures are used. Typically, there is no need for a drainage tube.

The procedure typically takes 2–3 hours and is performed in a fully licensed outpatient cosmetic surgery center. Most patients require a week off of work to recover. Sometimes women take a longer period off work if the work is strenuous. Scars are usually well hidden from view by regular clothing. It will take a month before you can resume any exercise.

Your Breast Augmentation With A Lift Results

Breast Augmentation with a Breast Lift suits different patient body types, targets issues like excess skin, and enhances natural shapes. You can expect the following results:

  • A higher, firmer position of your breast tissue from the breast lift surgery
  • More volume and fullness from your breast augmentation surgery
  • Better symmetry and improved shape, more youthful look and feel

These changes can improve your self-esteem and comfort. Long-term best results after your surgery depend on proper care and realistic goals that match your body type.

Breast Augmentation With Lift Questions
Ask Dr. Bennett C. Yang

A breast lift (medically called a mastopexy) and a breast lift with implants (often called an augmentation mastopexy or breast augmentation-mastopexy) are related but distinct cosmetic breast procedures. They both aim to create a more youthful, perkier breast appearance, but they address different concerns and produce different results.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy) Alone Primary goal: Corrects sagging (ptosis) by lifting the breasts to a higher position on the chest.

How It Works: Dr. Yang will remove excess stretched skin, reshape and tighten the underlying breast tissue, and reposition the nipple/areola higher up for a more youthful contour.

What The Breast Lift  Does Do: Raises drooping breasts and nipples.
Improves firmness and shape.
Creates a perkier, more elevated appearance.

What It Does NOT Do: Significantly increase breast size or add noticeable volume/fullness (especially in the upper part of the breast). The breasts may even appear slightly smaller after excess skin is removed.

Best For: Women who are happy with their current breast size (or don’t mind if they look slightly smaller) but want to address sagging caused by pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, aging, or gravity.

Incisions: Typically involve scars around the areola, vertically down the breast, and sometimes along the breast crease (anchor or lollipop pattern), depending on the degree of lift needed.

Breast Lift with Implants (Augmentation Mastopexy) Primary goal: Combines the lifting/reshaping of a mastopexy with added volume from breast implants.

How It Works: Dr. Yang will perform the breast lift (removing excess skin, tightening tissue, repositioning the nipple) and place breast implants (saline or silicone) to increase size and enhance fullness.

What It Does: Lifts and repositions sagging breasts/nipples (like a standard lift). Adding volume creates a more rounded shape and restores or enhances upper breast fullness (the “cleavage” area). Provides both elevation and enlargement for a more dramatic transformation.

What It Does NOT Do: It’s more complex than either procedure alone, so it can carry higher risks (such as implant-related issues or challenges balancing the opposing forces of adding volume while removing skin).

Best For: Women who want both correction of sagging and larger/more voluminous breasts. This is very common after pregnancy/breastfeeding (which often causes both deflation and drooping) or significant weight loss.
Incisions: Usually the same as a breast lift (anchor pattern), since the lift component requires those incisions anyway; implants are placed through the same access points.

Both procedures are highly individualized, and the best choice depends on your anatomy, goals, skin elasticity, and degree of sagging. Doctor Yang can assess you and recommend the right option to meet your needs and goals.

No, you do not necessarily need two separate surgeries for a breast lift (mastopexy) and breast augmentation (with implants). Many women safely and successfully have both procedures combined in a single operation, known as augmentation mastopexy or breast lift with implants.

This is a common and well-established approach when performed by an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon. However, whether a single-stage or two-stage (staged) approach is recommended depends on your individual anatomy, degree of sagging (ptosis), skin quality/elasticity, desired implant size, and overall goals. Some surgeons have differing philosophies based on experience, complication rates, and long-term outcomes.

Adding breast implants to a breast lift (augmentation mastopexy) provides several key benefits beyond a lift alone:

Increased volume and fullness — Implants restore or add significant size, especially in the upper breast (cleavage area), addressing deflation from pregnancy, weight loss, or aging.

Enhanced shape and projection — Creates rounder, more youthful contours with better upper pole fullness that a lift alone often can’t achieve. More dramatic, perky results — Combines lifting sagging tissue/nipples with added volume for fuller, firmer, and more rejuvenated breasts.

Improved overall proportion and confidence — Many patients report better bra/clothing fit, a more balanced figure, and a significant boost in self-esteem. Single recovery (when combined) — One surgery means one anesthesia, one healing period, and potentially lower total cost vs. staging separately.

A lift alone raises and firms, but doesn’t add noticeable size or upper fullness—implants fill that gap for women wanting both correction of sagging and enhancement.
