VASER Lipo In Rockville

VASER stands for vibration amplification of sound energy at resonance. This technology is used with this surgical procedure to harness ultrasound energy and target fat cells, dislodging them for easier suctioning. VASER liposuction is considered superior to traditional liposuction because it yields better results, is gentler overall, and causes less trauma to surrounding blood vessels and tissue.

VASER liposuction is a highly favored option for athletic and fit patients looking to further define their body physique. Unlike traditional lipo, which simply removes fatty tissue, VASER liposuction techniques can remove excess fat while etching around individual muscles for a super-fit look. The Vaser Lipo 360 procedure removes fat from your abdomen, sides, and back — 360 degrees. Vaser Lipo 360 is often called circumferential liposuction as well. Dr. Bennet C. Yang specializes in body resculpting using this type of liposuction.

What is the difference between Traditional and VASER LIPO?

What is the difference between Traditional and VASER LIPO?

  • Traditional liposuction uses motion — the back-and-forth movement of a cannula — to loosen your fat cells before removing them by using suction.
  • VASER Liposuction uses ultrasound-assisted liposuction (tumescent lipo) by adding an extra step, which liquefies the fat cells before they are suctioned out.

Why is VASER LIPO considered a better choice than Traditional  Liposuction?

For many of our patients, VASER liposuction offers benefits compared to traditional lipo, including less swelling, a shorter recovery time, and less pain.

Another consideration is that not only is the post–recovery time shorter and the results are superior. VASER Lipo allows more fat removal with less trauma and bruising, plus the VASER energy causes soft-tissue shrinkage.

VASER LIPO 360 can be used to offer our patients a more targeted, precise body-contouring procedure, allowing them to achieve a more defined, aesthetically pleasing body shape, such as a snatched waist, a more contoured back, and a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift).

Combining a BBL (Brazilian butt lift)  with fat transfer from your entire waist – hence Lipo 360 augments your body contours and buttocks using your body fat. With BBL, Dr. Yang uses liposuction to remove fat from your entire torso region and then injects the fat into your hips and buttocks, creating a more perky and fuller appearance. This helps to give alot of patients a more symmetric shape on the top and bottom.

One of the most popular, fastest growing, requested plastic surgeries in the country is the Brazilian butt lift, as many patient yearn to become the next Instagram-worthy waist, itsy-bitsy waist, influencer model waist or hourglass figure – the most important thing is how this transformation can improve your self confidence and help you to love your new appearance.

VASER LIPOSUCTION For Better Body Contouring

VASER LIPOSUCTION For Better Body Contouring

There are several key points to VASER liposuction, making it the ideal fat harvesting option. The advantages of fat collected using the VASER LIPO:

  1. Initially collected fat, has a high fat to blood content. This is because the VASER LIPO advanced system allows for melting of the fat off nerves and vessels. Resulting in vessels that are less likely to be injured as they are removed during the liposuction process. There is a safety advantage of minimizing blood loss for all of our surgical patients. Blood contains pro-inflammatory inducers that can have a detrimental effect on fat cells.  VASER LIPO removed fat provides a richer fat content which is cleaner and healthier than other liposuction methods of obtaining harvested fat.
  2. VASER LIPO fat for transfer is smoother in its consistency and avoids lumpiness. The reason for this is because the VASER LIPO procedure  melts fat into a butter-like substance that provides a smoother transfer to minimize contour irregularities.
  3. VASER LIPO allows for twice as much fat to be collected when compared to traditional liposuction. Fat volume that is removed can be twice as much.  This has a dramatic advantage. With this amount of fat, it will be easier for Dr. Yang to create the much desired bubble butt.   VASER LIPO offers thinner patients the desired result of a successful Brazilian butt lift. For patients who have previously been told that they are a poor candidates for bbl, THIS IS GREAT NEWS ! If you are athletic or lean, you can still be an excellent patient for BBL!
  4. VASER Fat for transfer has been shown to have 96% survivability rate. This means the fat being transferred into your buttocks has a higher chance of survive and not being reabsorbed as when compared to other fat transfer methods. This could mean you will not need a round #2 or #3.

Before VASER Liposuction Surgery

Vaser liposuction is considered an outpatient surgical procedure that involves small incisions under local anesthesia to remove unwanted fatty tissue beneath your skin.

With this in mind, our patients must prepare in advance for their surgical procedure and recovery to go smoothly. During the initial consultation, Dr. Yang wants to make sure you are a good candidate for liposuction. He will discuss your desired treatment areas, explain how Vaser Lipo 360 works, as well as the results you can expect to achieve post-surgery.

Dr. Yang will also consider other types of cosmetic surgery you may want, such as a tummy tuck or breast augmentation, so you can schedule these procedures together if possible.

Avoid Taking Certain Medications. To include non-steroidal and anti-inflammatory drugs, such as NSAIDS, as well as most herbal supplements. You must avoid taking these medications for at least two weeks before your surgery.

Losing  Weight Prior To Surgery. It is recommended that you are at your ideal or healthy weight to be a good candidate for Vaser liposuction. If you’re not at your ideal weight, Dr. Yang will likely suggest losing a certain amount of weight before scheduling your surgery for the best results.

Plan to Quit Smoking. As it can make it more difficult for your body to heal after your Vaser Lipo procedure. Smoking also reduces blood flow to the wound site, which could possibly lead to necrosis.

Prepare For Your Recovery. Dr. Yang and his staff will provide you with a list of items to prepare for your Vaser liposuction and recovery. Be sure to have everything you need before, and for a smooth recovery, arrange for someone to help you around the house.

After VASER Lipo Surgery

Recovering from Vaser liposuction is much faster than from traditional liposuction.

Here’s what you can expect:

You will have to wear a Compression Garment. They are worn after your procedure to reduce the swelling of the treated area and also help to support the area as you move around.

You may leak fluid. During the first week of recovery, expect fluid leakage from your incision sites. Dr. Yang will insert a tube and drain system into the treated area to allow fluid to drain quickly and promote faster healing.

You may experience some uncomfortable moments. After Vaser liposuction, feeling sore is pretty common. This is usually very mild and only lasts for the first five days. Dr. Yang will prescribe pain medication to help you feel better, if needed.

You will see moderate skin tightening. The pulsating, ultrasonic waves produced by the Hi Def liposuction techniques tighten the skin as a side effect of the treatment. You can expect to see tighter skin within two to three months after Vaser liposuction.

Committing to a healthy lifestyle. After you have Vaser liposuction or a Lipo 360 procedure, you have to keep a healthy diet and exercise consistently to avoid future weight gain.

Do You Have VASER Liposuction Questions?

No, traditional liposuction is not necessarily safer than VASER lipo—in fact, the majority of available comparisons and studies suggest VASER liposuction (ultrasound-assisted) often has a better safety profile in several key areas, though both procedures are generally safe when performed by qualified, experienced surgeons.

Both traditional liposuction (also called suction-assisted or tumescent liposuction) and VASER lipo are well-established, FDA-approved body contouring procedures with low overall complication rates. Safety ultimately depends more on the surgeon’s skill, the patient’s health, the volume of fat removed, and proper technique than on the method alone. Serious risks like infection, bleeding, fat embolism, or anesthesia complications exist for both but are rare.

Yes, Dr. Yang Does. Combining a BBL (Brazilian butt lift)  with fat transfer from your entire waist using VASER Lipo,  augments your body contours and buttocks using your own body fat. With BBL, Dr. Yang uses VASER liposuction to remove fat from your entire torso, then injects it into your hips and buttocks, creating a more perky, fuller appearance. This helps to give alot of patients a more symmetric shape on the top and bottom.

One of the most popular, fastest growing, requested plastic surgeries in the country is the Brazilian butt lift, as many patients yearn to become the next Instagram-worthy waist, itsy-bitsy waist, influencer model waist, or hourglass figure – the most important thing is how this transformation can improve your self-confidence and help you to love your new appearance.

Yes, VASER liposuction does cause some scarring, but it is typically minimal, small, and barely noticeable for most patients—often far less prominent than with traditional liposuction.

Like all forms of liposuction, VASER requires tiny incisions (usually 3–6 mm, about the size of a grain of rice or pencil tip) to insert the ultrasound probe and cannula for fat emulsification and removal. These incisions heal into small scars, but several factors make scarring from

VASER Is Particularly Discreet: Small incision size — Modern VASER techniques use very small entry points (often 3–5 mm), placed strategically in natural skin folds, creases, or inconspicuous areas (e.g., near the bikini line, under the chin, or in body creases) to hide them.

Minimal Tissue Trauma — The ultrasound energy selectively targets fat cells while preserving surrounding structures (blood vessels, nerves, connective tissue), leading to less inflammation, bruising, and disruption that can worsen scarring.

Healing Process — Initial scars may appear pink/red and slightly raised for the first few weeks to months, but they typically fade to thin, flat, white or skin-colored lines over 6–12 months (or longer for full maturation).

Many patients report that scars become virtually invisible over time.
Comparison to traditional liposuction — VASER often results in less noticeable scarring due to smaller incisions and reduced trauma, compared to traditional methods that may require slightly larger or more incisions in some cases.

Many places charge a higher fee for VASER Liposuction. However, with Bennett Yang, MD, given the overall improvement with Vaser and the quality of the outcomes, we include VASER in the cost of liposuction.

Yes, VASER liposuction provides moderate skin tightening and promotes better skin retraction compared to traditional liposuction, thanks to the ultrasound energy that generates gentle heat and stimulates collagen production in the treated areas.

This collagen stimulation helps the skin contract and firm up over time (often noticeable within 2–3 months, with continued improvement up to 6–12 months post-procedure). Many sources, including clinical comparisons and surgeon reports, highlight that VASER achieves enhanced skin tightening—sometimes cited as around 53% greater skin retraction than traditional methods in older studies—due to its selective action on fat, while preserving connective tissues and inducing thermal effects that promote skin firmness.

How It Works for Skin Tightening: The ultrasound waves emulsify fat and create controlled heat in the subcutaneous layer.
This heat triggers collagen remodeling and contraction of skin fibers, leading to improved elasticity and a smoother, more taut appearance.

It excels particularly in patients with good to moderate skin elasticity (e.g., younger individuals, those with mild laxity, or stable weight), where the skin can “snap back” effectively after fat removal.

Limitations and Realistic Expectations: It is not a primary skin-tightening procedure like Renuvion, BodyTite, or surgical lifts (e.g., tummy tuck). VASER offers mild to moderate tightening as a beneficial side effect, not a dramatic fix for significant loose or hanging skin (e.g., from major weight loss, pregnancy, or aging).
If skin laxity is severe, removing fat alone (even with VASER) can sometimes worsen the appearance of sagging, as the skin may not retract fully—many surgeons recommend combining VASER with dedicated skin-tightening modalities for optimal results in those cases.

Factors influencing outcomes include age, skin quality/elasticity, treatment area (e.g., abdomen or arms respond variably), amount of fat removed, and post-op care (compression garments, hydration, avoiding sun/smoking to support healing).

No, VASER liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure—it’s a body-contouring and sculpting treatment designed to remove stubborn, localized pockets of fat that resist diet and exercise, helping refine your shape and enhance definition (such as revealing muscle contours in areas like the abdomen or arms).

Multiple reliable sources, including plastic surgery clinics, Mayo Clinic guidelines on liposuction (which includes VASER as an ultrasound-assisted variant), and expert consensus, consistently emphasize this distinction. While you may notice some scale weight loss (typically a few pounds from the removed fat), the primary goal isn’t overall weight reduction or treating obesity. For significant weight loss, methods like diet, exercise, bariatric surgery, or other medical interventions are far more effective and appropriate.

VASER liposuction works best for people who are already at or near their ideal body weight (or have a stable, healthy BMI) and want to target specific areas like the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, back, or chin for a more sculpted, athletic, or proportionate appearance. It’s especially valued for its precision, skin-tightening effects from ultrasound energy, and ability to achieve high-definition results in suitable candidates.

How Much Fat Can Be Removed? The amount of fat safely removable in a single VASER liposuction session varies based on factors like your overall health, body composition (e.g., BMI and starting fat percentage), treatment areas, surgeon’s assessment, and facility guidelines.

Safety Is The Top Priority—removing too much fat at once increases the risk of fluid imbalances, seromas, infections, and other complications. Typical/average amount — Most patients have 2–5 liters (about 4–11 pounds) of fat removed, often focusing on contouring rather than maximum volume.

Safe Upper Limits — Guidelines from plastic surgery organizations (e.g., ASPS) and many surgeons consider up to 5 liters (roughly 10–11 pounds of total aspirate, including fat and fluid) as the common maximum for a single outpatient session to minimize risks. Some sources note 3–5 liters or 4–5% of body weight as a conservative recommendation per session, especially for VASER.

Higher Volumes— In select healthy candidates and accredited settings, up to 6–8 liters may be possible, but this is less common, carries higher risks, and often requires staged procedures or hospital monitoring for “large-volume” cases.

VASER doesn’t inherently allow dramatically more fat removal than traditional liposuction—the limits are similar across methods, driven by patient safety rather than the technique. However, VASER’s selective fat emulsification can make removal more efficient and precise in targeted areas, sometimes enabling better sculpting with the same or slightly higher volumes in skilled hands.
